Inspiration and Discussion of Slate/Sculpture Artists
Carrie Horwood is a stonemason sculpture artist who works with tetburry limestone and slate to create these soft ripples in slate. she uses files and chisels to achieve this look and finishes the piece with oil.
Auguste Rodin, generally considered the father to modern sculpture because of his rebellion against the linear movement of glory sculpture and beauty within sculpture. rodin represented contemplation, love and corruption in the form of figurative sculpture which birthed Modern Sculpture which separated traditional sculpture from the era.
Junya Ishigami is an architect who likes to rebel against the traditional. the most common feature of architecture is roofs and Ishigami likes to represent them in obscure ways. known for pushing the boundaries of what is possible in building he also applies dream like qualities which harmonise with nature.
Stephen Kettle is a construction worker who uses the structural integrity of bricks and cement to construct representational slate figurative works. he likes to work in a linear way, often commemorating people of the past who have had an influence on society for the better, such as Winston Churchill and R.J. Mitchell.
